How many times have you thought to yourself I would love some really cool original art of my favorite super heroes, villains, TV shows, or movies? Well we have your solution! Meet A Design Geek! We met Nick and Meli of A Design Geek at the Tampa Bay Comic Con last April and we have always been very impressed with their work.
I am always happy to say we have several of their posters. They are always so cool! Nick, implements a minimalist design style that brings out the very essence of each character. His work is both subtle and direct as all my favorite characters become the perfect piece to hang on the wall.
In addition to posters they also have vinyl products from wall clings to license plate tags. They have even done some custom work for us in the past. Their great designs made for the perfect backdrop for our event photo booth as well as shirts for the best way for our employees to stand out at shows.
If you haven’t seen A Design Geek’s work then check them out on their website or at the shows they exhibit at. You won’t be disappointed!
How many of you went to a midnight showing of Iron Man 3? I didn’t get a chance to go last night, but I will definitely be catching it this weekend.
Kotobukiya will be making ArtFX statues from the Iron Man 3 movie. They’ve already shown the concept pictures of the Iron Man Mark 42 and the War Machine statues. Unlike many of the previous Iron Man statues, these are designed on a unique base. The Mark 42 will be over water, and the War Machine is hovering near a pipe. I’ve seen mixed reviews on these styled bases, and I’m interested to see how these environments fit in from the movie. The detail on these statues looks like it will be great, as you would expect from Kotobukiya. We had seen the Mark 42 in person at Toy Fair, and you can find some pics of that on our Facebook page.
One of the additional features that I really like from Kotobukiya is the light up LED on the Mark 42. The arc reactor and eyes can be turned continuously or with a sound detector. These really added a lot to the Mark IV and Mark VII statues that Kotobukiya released previously.
What did you think of the movie, and are you excited for these two statues?
This is the drawing that Kotobukiya used in their brochure at Toy Fair 2013 for the newly announced “Avengers Assemble” ArtFX+ line that will be released in early 2014. We had planned to ask Kotobukiya specifically about a Marvel or Avengers ArtFX+ line, so we were really excited to see this being promoted already. The Justice League ArtFX+ statues have been a huge success, and we were hoping to see some of our Marvel favorites in this scale. We have not seen any prototypes or anything, so the drawing is all that we have to go by, but here is how the drawing translated to production for the DC Justice League statues.
The DC statues came out very close to the original concept. So with that, what do you think the final outcome of the Avengers Assemble will be? Are you excited about this series? Which character are you looking forward to the most in the 1/10 scale? I know I’m excited to see what Hulk looks like in scale with the rest of the Avengers!
