This is the drawing that Kotobukiya used in their brochure at Toy Fair 2013 for the newly announced “Avengers Assemble” ArtFX+ line that will be released in early 2014. We had planned to ask Kotobukiya specifically about a Marvel or Avengers ArtFX+ line, so we were really excited to see this being promoted already. The Justice League ArtFX+ statues have been a huge success, and we were hoping to see some of our Marvel favorites in this scale. We have not seen any prototypes or anything, so the drawing is all that we have to go by, but here is how the drawing translated to production for the DC Justice League statues.
The DC statues came out very close to the original concept. So with that, what do you think the final outcome of the Avengers Assemble will be? Are you excited about this series? Which character are you looking forward to the most in the 1/10 scale? I know I’m excited to see what Hulk looks like in scale with the rest of the Avengers!

December’s Kotobukiya releases include additions to the bishoujo, ArtFX, and ArtFX+ lines.
First up is The Dark Knight Rises ArtFX. This statue has interchangeable right hands so you can display it with the grappling gun or EMP rifle. It also features what appears to be a puddle in the shape of a bat, which actually lights up with a cool blue color. I wish this had arrived closer to the movie release, but it is still a really cool statue for fans of the Dark Knight movies.
The next ArtFX+ in the Star Wars line: Boba Fett from Return of the Jedi! ArtFX+ are 1/10 scale statues, so they are a little smaller than most statues, but you can create some really neat displays with the smaller size. Display the bounty hunter with his blaster or preparing to fire wrist-mounted weapons.
Last is Power Girl from the DC bishoujo line. This is many people’s new favorite, and I have seen many positive reviews from people that don’t even care for the Power Girl character. With her powerful stance, flexing muscles and flowing cape, Power Girl will be a center piece for any bishoujo collection.
Merry Christmas from JMD Retail!!
Here at JMD Retail we are big fans of Kotobukiya. The line we are most excited about recently is the ArtFX+ Justice League collection. We have talked about some of the other Justice League statues announced in some of our earlier blogs. Kotobukiya teased the latest member of the Justice League on their Facebook page today. As, you can probably tell from the picture, the next ArtFX+ statue from this line will be Aquaman. I for one am excited that we are more than half way through the statues being announced, and I can’t wait to see what they all look like together. Check out our website and Facebook page for updates on this incredible line.
We did a recent blog post on the ArtFX+ line from Kotobukiya. We wanted to spotlight the Justice League New 52 Superman, Green Lantern, and Flash that have been announced for this line. I’ve also seen some pics of an unpainted Wonder Woman from SDCC, so she should be coming up soon. These are 1/7th scale, and stand approximately 7.5″ tall. Each Justice League member will have a magnetic base to keep each statue standing upright. These will be slightly taller than your standard 6″ action figures, and you are getting the quality look of a statue. The color and detail looks like it should be pretty amazing in these pieces, and a display of all 7 will look incredible. Also, the price of the ArtFX+ makes this pretty affordable compared to some other series on the market. So if you’re looking for a nice Justice League collection, make sure not to miss out on these!
Kotobukiya is starting to come out with more of the ArtFX+ line. Most of the ArtFX+ have been Star Wars statues, but they did announce some New 52 Justice League statues at SDCC as well. So what is ArtFX+? If you are familiar with the regular ArtFX line, the statues are usually 1:6 scale. ArtFX+ is usually 1:10 scale, so they are smaller, and less expensive. I like collections that have a few large center piece statues, but if someone wanted to collect the entire Star Wars lineup, they may not have the space to do that, so ArtFX+ is a nice alternative. I don’t really collect all the Star Wars characters, so I never really thought about ArtFX+ for my personal collection, but once all the Justice League statues come out, I may have to make a pretty cool display of all the DC ArtFX+. Which scale do you prefer for your collections: 1:6, 1:10, or something else?
